Case Study: Power Plant Fuel Pipe Belt Conveyor Enables Efficient Coal Transportation
CAFU Machinery designed a pipe belt conveyor system for a coal-fired power plant to optimize fuel transport while minimizing environmental impact. The system utilizes a 250 mm diameter tubular belt with a length of 508 m to seamlessly convey 150 tons of coal per hour at a belt speed of 2.0 m/sec.
The conveyor features an abrasion-resistant reinforced belt and a fully enclosed tubular design that eliminates coal dust spillage and has a sealing efficiency of 99.8%. Its modular truss construction accommodates height variations (up to 18°) and horizontal bends (up to 45°) to accommodate complex plant layouts.
Key innovations include:
• Intelligent drive system with VFD control for smooth load adaptation
• Zero-maintenance idler pulleys with sealed bearings (IP67 rating)
• Operating temperature range of -30°C to +50°C for harsh climatic conditions
Since commissioning, the system has operated for 3,200+ hours at 98.5% availability, reducing coal loss by 15% compared to conventional gallery belt conveyors.
