What is Carburising of Carburised Super Wear Resistant Chain?
• Carburising is a heat treatment technique that is commonly used in the metalworking industry. The process involves the introduction of carbon into the surface layer of the metal, typically steel. This is typically achieved by exposing the metal to a carbon-rich environment at an elevated temperature for a specified period of time. For instance, the chain may be situated within a furnace containing a carbon-bearing gas or solid carbon source, such as charcoal powder.
• The primary objective of carburising the chain is to enhance its surface hardness and wear resistance while preserving the toughness of the core metal. By increasing the carbon concentration near the surface, the chain can better withstand friction and abrasive forces when in use, preventing significant wear and tear.
Key Features of Carburised Chain:
• Surface Hardness: After carburising, the surface layer of the chain becomes much harder compared to an untreated chain. This increased hardness allows it to resist deformation and scratching when it comes into contact with other surfaces during operation. For instance, if the chain is used in a conveyor system where it rubs against guide rails or transports heavy materials, the hard carburised surface can endure these interactions for a longer time.
• Extended Service Life: Due to its enhanced wear resistance, the carburised super wear resistant chain has a significantly longer service life than a regular chain. It can operate continuously in harsh environments with abrasive materials or high friction without quickly wearing out. This reduces the frequency of chain replacements, saving both time and costs for maintenance in various industrial applications.
• Better Performance in Demanding Applications: In industries such as mining, quarrying, and heavy-duty manufacturing where chains are subjected to extreme loads and abrasive conditions, these carburised super wear resistant chains shine. They can handle the heavy loads of transporting minerals, rocks, or large components while maintaining their integrity and functionality over an extended period.
